Alex and I are extremely excited to announce that Hex Gambit will be targeting both Steam and the Nintendo Switch™ console on launch day next year. The Nintendo Switch™ is a perfect fit for our multiplayer focus, allowing you to easily gather friends around the TV for a couple of matches, or knock out a few turns while you’re out doing your thing. We can’t wait to pass some Joy-Con™ controllers around the living room and make Hex Gambit a game night staple!
The Nintendo Switch™ Edition of Hex Gambit will be included as a reward option in our Kickstarter campaign next month. Click here to sign up for an email reminder if you haven’t already.
Alex and I had some fun coming up with unique rewards for next month’s Hex Gambit Kickstarter. One exclusive reward is the Deluxe Edition of the game, which we’ve already announced will be the only way to get free DLC for life in Hex Gambit. Another, more immediate bonus included with Deluxe is this Legendary Pillar skin that you can turn off and on. Like the Deluxe Edition itself, this will never be available for purchase after Kickstarter, so it’s sure to be the envy of all your launch day opponents.

Short clip of a Defender’s pillar tap from our upcoming Kickstarter video. I’ve been learning some new cinematic tools, and now I finally have a decent workflow for gifs. No more 480p videos!

Space Food Truck, our 1-4 player co-op adventure card game is on sale starting today! If you still haven’t picked up a copy, or were looking for an excuse to pick up a copy for a friend there’s been no better time. At $7.99 this is the lowest price it has ever been on Steam and Humble! The sale runs through July 5th, and if you’re into getting 4-packs, you can now get the 4-pack for just $20.99 as well.
For the folks that like gaming on the go, we’re also running a sale on iOS and Android where you can pick up a copy for $2.99 through July 5th!
Unreal’s Sequencer for capturing and editing cinematics is awesome. I’ll try to have a finished teaser with more minion footage together soon. Here’s a tiny taste for now.

We have a big announcement coming that’s not quite ready for the blog today, so instead here’s a Motivator going woowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoowoo.
I’m watching a LOT of Youtube to learn the ins and outs of Unreal’s cinema scene editor. Hoping to have some pretty wicked machinema skills for the Hex Gambit Kickstarter video, and to improve these WIP clips with a little actual camera work.

And just like that, we have our 5 starter minions modeled and textured for Early Access, plus six captains to choose from. We’ve been putting a lot of thought into Hex Gambit‘s Kickstarter this past week, and here’s what we know so far:
We’re planning to launch the campaign in July and you’ll have two options for backing HG early: the Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition. Both of these offer a great value vs. the launch day price of the game, especially if you’re quick enough to grab the Early Bird prices.
- The Steam Standard Edition gets you into Early Access later this year, updating to be exactly like the launch day version of the game with a nice discount.
- Upgrading to the Deluxe Edition adds a copy of the soundtrack, an exclusive, legendary skin for your crystal pillars (which can’t be purchased outside of Kickstarter and will make your opponents very jealous), plus free DLC for life! There will be no Outwitters-style Über Pack in Hex Gambit, so this is your ONE shot at securing that privilege. We’ve got 10 DLC minion concepts we’d love to add to our launch lineup, one every few months, and you’ll have gotten your money’s worth as soon as the first one drops!
- A Deluxe Edition Friend Pack will also be available, letting you grab two Deluxe keys at a discounted price.
The higher tiers will tack on some other exclusive goodies that we’ll be ready to show off a little later. If you haven’t already, be sure to sign up for our mailing list to get an email reminder when the Hex Gambit Kickstarter goes live!
Still a lot of checkboard placeholders to fill in, and I’d like to make a little blimp that circles in the air, but the Hex Gambit metagame is starting to look snazzy. Shout out to Unreal’s advanced cinematic grass blueprint.

The last of our Early Access minions, meet the Brute! Compared to Outwitters‘ Heavy class, the brute is still slow, but more durable and harder hitting. You’ll only have two to use in a match, so knocking both of them out as soon as possible will be a priority for your opponent. If you can keep one alive to the very late game, they get an unlockable speed boost called Doubletime to make them extra scary.
Another of their special abilities is called Toss, which lets them pick up a neighbor and throw them up to 2 spaces away, even over barriers. You can use it to move people up the field faster, or to get a pesky enemy out of your way.

Haven’t had a chance to check out our culinary card adventure, Space Food Truck? Got some cost-conscious holdouts among your crew? Fret not, because from today forward we’re dropping the game’s price in half permanently on all platforms. That’s $9.99 for the Steam version or just $4.99 on iOS and Android tablets.
Build your deck as you scour an unforgiving galaxy in search of exotic ingredients with 1-4 players, taking on the unique roles of Captain, Engineer, Chef, or Scientist.
