With Tilt to Live: Gauntlet’s Revenge released, we now have 3 games in the series. A nice round number. It just feels right to put those three Tilt to Live games together in a bundle, and it feels even more right to call that bundle the Tilt to Live Tilty-Tilt Boom Boom Bundle, coming Thanksgiving Day to the App Store.
November 27th, you can be thankful for accelerometer-powered weaponry, the retry button, and 33% off when you buy Tilt to Live, Tilt to Live 2: Redonkulous, and Tilt to Live: Gauntlet’s Revenge in an App Store bundle! If you already own one of those games, the price you paid will automatically be discounted from the bundle price so you can complete your collection. As an added bonus, because the pilgrims told us to, we’re dropping the price even further to 44% off if you buy before the end of November.
Unfortunately, the whole bundling thing doesn’t provide a way for us to include our DLC gametypes or Tilt to Live HD’s Full Version IAP. But you will still get a heck of a lot of savings compared to buying the games individually!
I’m hearing a growing crescendo of curse words in the distance, which can mean only one thing. Tilt to Live: Gauntlet’s Revenge must have just arrived on Google Play. Welcome to the fold, Android users! You can find a spoiler-free mini strategy guide here to get you started. Good luck dodging your way to the Dot Bot Fortress.
Did you know you can stream the soundtracks for all of our games on our bandcamp page? And if you’d like to add the Gauntlet’s Revenge soundtrack to your music collection, go here and redeem one of the codes below for a free copy. It’s our way of saying thanks for keeping up with us on the blog!

We’ve done some housekeeping since Gauntlet’s Revenge launched, including a search for better, more modern forum software. After looking into Discourse for a few weeks, we’ve decided to take the plunge.
We’ve even added some hooks between Outwitters and Discourse to make passing data between them easier. For example, the top 200 weekly list is now automatically generated by our servers and posted (with some new criteria to boot). It was a nice experiment that shows promise for potential future integrations, should the need arise. And that was simply scratching the surface! The rest of the software makes writing posts and adding to discussions a more pleasant experience, granted there will be a learning curve for those of you used to our old forums.
We’ve collected a few tips and tricks to help ease your transition. If you have any questions, feel free to reply to that thread and we can add it to the main post.
What about my account and posts?
Your account and old posts are all still here! You simply need to reset your password, as passwords are not stored on our servers. Just click reset your password and login to your email to regain access under your new account. If you have any issues, don’t hesitate to contact us.
All the old posts have been imported to the new forum, though some of the formatting may be off due to different standards. We’ll be setting the old forums to ‘read-only’ and placing it at a different URL temporarily as we get users migrated to the new setup. Once the dust settles we’ll retire it for good.
We hope you all enjoy the new forums! Thanks for being a part of our community.
Tilt to Live: Gauntlet’s Revenge has arrived! It’s a collection of brutal tilt obstacle courses, culminating in a final battle with the Dot King. The new dot bots can be pretty ruthless, so we’ve assembled a few tips to help you find your way.
Which difficulty?
If you’d like to finish every level and beat the Dot King, Normal mode is the way to go. If you’re really struggling, Easy gives you twice the health and removes the hardest obstacles from the three main tracks. It’s worth noting that the final boss gauntlet has the same tough obstacles no matter what, so your difficulty there will just determine the size of your life bar.
Hard mode is intended for highscore hounds looking to compete on the leaderboards. When it’s that easy to die, every piece of pointonium counts. If you can actually finish the game on hard, you’re ridiculous (and we totally want to watch your YouTube videos).
Reaching the Dot Bot Fortress
If you want a shot at taking down the Dot King, you’ll need to earn 9 medals in the three main gauntlets. But here’s a shortcut: the harder your difficulty, the more your medals are worth. Unlocking a Finish medal on hard also unlocks it for easy and normal, so that one medal really earns you three. Playing on Easy, you’ll need every medal from every gauntlet to reach the Dot Bot Fortress. Normal medals count for two, and hard medals count for three.
General Tips
- Remain calm. If you flip out and over-tilt, you’re going to get a face full of spike wall. Subtle, deliberate tilting goes a long way.
- If you’re having a hard time maintaining control, try a different tilt sensitivity. You can change this mid-game in the pause menu, at the top right.
- If you’re just trying to reach the finish line, ignore the pointonium. We know it’s shiny, but it makes you take risks that you normally wouldn’t.
- Sometimes blowing up an enemy will make your life a little easier. Other times it isn’t worth the risk. Choose your battles wisely.
With release day just around the river bend, you can now stream (or purchase) the complete Gauntlet’s Revenge Soundtrack on our bandcamp page. Take a musical tour of Arropolis, the Pointonium Mines, or the unlockable Dot Bot Fortress. For some of you, this may be as close as you ever get to the Dot King.
Gauntlet mode first appeared in the original Tilt to Live. Rather than hopping from weapon to weapon, it was about navigating a parade of deadly traps with precision and good timing. It was a fun mode, but there were a few things we wish we’d done better. The difficulty was fairly flat, and the enemy formations lacked variety. We retooled it for Tilt to Live HD as a single screen bullet hell mode, but we always wanted another crack at that “precision endless runner”, “tilt platformer” feel.
When it came time to think up a second DLC for Tilt to Live 2, getting a chance to finally do Gauntlet justice was high on our list. Once a few enemies and track pieces were in the prototype, all sorts of interesting ideas came up. What if you could reach some kind of bonus room if you survived long enough? I have a lot of leftover obstacle ideas; what if we did a few different Gauntlets?
Rather than cutting our ideas down to make DLC for Tilt to Live 2, we’re running with them in our first Tilt to Live spin-off: Gauntlet’s Revenge. Development is already underway for iOS and Android, and we expect to be ready for release later this year. You can keep up with our progress on this blog, or sign up for an email reminder when the game is released.
Just released in an update to the paid version of Tilt to Live 2, Brimstone Pinball now has a hard mode, with its own leaderboard for crazy people. How long will you last? One second? THREE?!
Pro tip: you’ll definitely want to make use of the star beam (dribble against a green star wall 3 times) and the superball to keep your enemies at bay. You won’t last long in hard mode without them.
And now, the moment people who don’t like paying for things have been waiting for! Freedonkulous is something we put together so anyone can grab the basic Tilt to Live 2 experience, free of charge. Plus, not coincidentally, the paid version of Tilt to Live 2 is only 99¢ for a very limited time! I cannot express how excited I was to discover that our tagline could double as a “free” pun. Actually, I just looked it up, and it’s not a pun. It’s called a portmanteau, and now we’re all smarter.
What are we giving away in Freedonkulous, you probably ask? It’s got Classic Mode with all of its boss fights, an Old School option to streamline the gameplay, two unlockable weapons, and over 30 achievements to conquer.
If you free users like what you’re playing, now’s a great time to upgrade to the paid version (whose price is temporarily inhibited) for:
- Code Red (hard mode): with harder bosses, more achievements, & two more unlockable weapons!
- Access to the Brimstone Pinball DLC
- No ads
- Support the devs: your purchases keep us in the business of making games
Today is the day! You can add the new Brimstone Pinball DLC to your Tilt to Live 2 lineup for a mere 99¢. It’s practically a whole new game, with a fresh lineup of enemies and 15 tricky achievements to conquer. To help you get started climbing the leaderboards, we’ve assembled a list of tips to maximize your score:
- Hitting a star wall is worth the same amount of points as killing a bumper baddie, and it’s quicker.
- Dribbling 3x on a star wall triggers the star beam, which clears a portion of the screen. These kills are worth more than double the norm.
- Double, triple, and multi-kills each provide a score bonus, so when you can, kill in groups.
- Dribbling an enemy to death (not touching any walls) is a perfect kill, worth 5x the norm.
- Superball kills are also worth 5x the norm. Try filling the screen with enemies before you fill those background stars!
Never resting, because we are machines, we’re already winding up production on a small side project. More on that soon.
And we’re back from the Game Developer’s Conference. It’s always great to spend a week outside of our bubble and get some insight from our peers. We got to try a lot of cool stuff that other mobile developers were up to (Unpossible, Adventure Beaks, Monsters vs. Monacles) and got some great feedback on Tilt to Live 2’s new Brimstone Pinball gametype. This was actually the first time we’d put it into someone else’s hands, so it was great to see people hitting that retry button without us even asking.
You can watch our early build of Brimstone Pinball in action at the links below (I don’t think we ever quite get to the hardest waves of enemies). Huge thanks to the press people on this list for giving us the chance to show you our project!
