In an overdue effort to keep things balanced in the land of Outwitters, 2v2 has been updated with a first-turn advantage fix similar to our 1v1 rules. This solution addresses the concern that when second player takes their turn, their team starts 5 wits behind first player and plays catchup. The new way this works is:

• Team 1 gets 5 wits.
• Team 2 gets 7 wits (starting 5 wits behind, but ending the turn 2 wits ahead).
• Team 1 gets 5 wits (starting 2 wits behind, ending 3 ahead).
• Team 2 gets 6 wits (starting 3 wits behind, ending 3 wits ahead).
• From here, all players get 5 wits at the start of each turn.

If all this sounds odd to you, know that it sounded weird to us too when the concept was first introduced on our forums. With this tweak, each player starts their turn playing catchup on wits, but gets to end it a little bit ahead of the person before them.

Since the original Tilt to Live hit the App Store, we’ve had people requesting an Android version on a just-about-daily basis. Finally, thanks in large part to some new development tools we’ve adopted, Tilt to Live 2 is coming to Google Play on February 24th! That’s Tilt to Live’s 4th birthday, coincidentally. I’d like to thank Google for leaving the little green Android open to editing for advertising purposes, because this is just about the most fun I’ve had making an ad.

Your eyes do not deceive you. Tilt to Live 2 has another new update on the App Store, even more stable than the last. If this game gets any more stable, we’re going to have to fill it with horses.

This version specifically targets iPhone 4s users who’ve been experiencing mild-to-severe memory crashes, and in rare cases, death. If you’re a 4s user and this update doesn’t solve your problem, please let us know.

Seems that even after version 1 dot 1’s performance tweaks, some older devices (iPad 2, iPhone 4S, & 5th gen iPod Touch) were still having issues with memory-related crashes. Fear not! 1 dot 2 is on the App Store, and it’s filled with the vitamins and nutrients your phone needs to run our game. If you had issues getting through the tutorial or crashing on retry and quit, this should get things running smoothly for you. If crashing persists, we’d recommend rebooting your device after installing the update to help clear things up. Happy dot hunting!

December was a nice change of pace. We got to spend some time exploring new game design tools and playing with some non-Tilt-to-Live game ideas. But 2014 has arrived, and we’re back on track with some pretty ambitious timetables for Tilt to Live 2.

Alex is venturing into the unknown, attempting to get the game running on a few Android devices over the next couple of weeks. It’s not a sure thing, we’re just dipping a toe to see how deep that rabbit hole goes.

We’ve also narrowed down ideas for Tilt to Live 2’s new mystery gametype, which I’m working on character and arena concepts for while Alex is occupied. We’ll be jumping right into that once the Android tangent is wrapped up, one way or the other.
