Year of the Mage

by

My first game, Tilt to Live, launched way back in 2010, making this the end of my 16th year as a full-time indie game developer. The store is more crowded every year and the pay has shrunk considerably, but I genuinely think I’m doing the best work of my career… so I’m gonna keep at it and see what happens.

I’d say 2025 was an eventful year! After about 3 years of dev, Mage Food Truck (20% off) joins Hex Gambit: Respawned (75% off) as another shipped game in the “Solo Dev Adam” era. If you purchased either of those titles, I hope they’ve brought you some joy! And if you have time to leave a Steam review, those help devs like me tremendously algorithm-wise.

On a sad note, this year revealed an Outwitters bug that relocked all of its IAP for good, so it now joins Tilt to Live: Gauntlet’s Revenge and the original Hex Gambit in the ‘No Longer Available’ portion of our back catalogue.

So what’s next?! Mage Food Truck has a God of Food Trucks update coming in January to add a boon system, which unlocks a TON of new highscore potential and strategies. I’m also eager to get started on a fresh scenario with all the card and event ideas I’ve kept tucked away.

Beyond that, there are many possibilities! I look forward to discovering what’s in store, and I wish you all the luck with your own “best laid plans”! Happy New Year!
