Wit’s End

Outwitters, the turn-based tactics cult classic that Alex and I launched on mobile way back in 2012, hit an unfortunate IAP bug early this year that could not be resolved. The game was delisted from the App Store and Google Play in February, but we left the servers chugging along for those who wanted to continue playing for whatever reason.

It’s come to our attention that that isn’t sustainable, so it’s with a heavy heart that we’ve decided to pull the plug on Outwitters’ servers effective Jan 1st, 2026. Any user data we have stored will be wiped for your privacy. The game should continue to function in Pass and Play mode, but is no longer available for download anywhere.

Alex and I both want to offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone who played, and especially to all of you still sending turns 13 years after the game’s launch.

If you’re looking for something to fill the Outwitters-shaped hole in your heart, I did launch a follow-up on PC and consoles last year called Hex Gambit: Respawned, which contains a lot of my unused Outwitters sequel ideas and has a solid single player campaign.
