For those wondering what the “Current Season” bit in their profile means, and for those that aren’t, here is a run down on seasons in Outwitters league play. Starting with season 2, each season will run approximately two months. We may change this in the future based on feedback and other factors. When a new season starts, your current rank and league are immortalized into a stone plaque in your profile page and you are put back into placement. When the new season starts, you will do 1 placement match to get promoted into a new division and league. Your hidden skill rating will carry over from the previous season, so you will continue to match up against similarly skilled players. We’re also changing points attribution to be slightly more reflective of someone’s success in the division instead of how many games they’ve played.
Season 2 is starting this Wednesday after a short period of server downtime while we roll out the changes and season 1 awards. So if you’ve been aching to crack that top spot in your division, now is the time to do it!

What happens to current games?
Current games will simply proceed as is.
Awesome! I can’t wait!
Only 1 placement match?!?! Thats crazy! What if I have one bad game and you put me in the basement and I dont have the time to climb up before the next season? This might be great for your pros and people with a lot of time on their hands, but some of us work a LOT and it takes a lot of time to get the games in to rank up. I work hard for my rank and making it harder is not gonna help casual or time strapped players.
@bobseph, Just to clarify, Your skill-rating is not reset. Just your division ranking and points. So for example if you were gifted in season 1, you will most likely place back into gifted for season 2 (only in rare edge cases will this not be the case).
Can you give us any details what will change about the point system?
Well now points will be kinda pointless. Cause now you could have 500 wins and only 13 pts it means you probably only played one game. You can’t assess their skill by the win/pts difference.
@bobseph, Actually points will be more useful than ever. The intention is for points to be more reflective of skill in the new point allocation system they will use in Season 2.
Fingers crossed that this works.
how long will the maintenance last? i cant wait!
I don’t know
Anyone care to explain the new points system? Apparently your division points are not reflective of the points awarded at the end of games. Not looking for a super thorough explanation, just wondering why you lose points for both wins and losses, and wondering what one has to do to actually gain division points.
I’d like to second the comment on the new point system – I lost the seeding match, but haven’t lost a match since then and I am not ranked where I thought I should be, nor am I in the league that I expected…
I for one welcome the new point system…
Yet I also would like to understand what’s going on.
I won my placement match (actually it was one started before the swichtover). Got placed as I expected with 3 league points. Then lost a game and went to 0 points.
Then again won a game (which on the end screen was supposed to give me 20 points) yet I ended up with 6 league points.
What’s Math got to do with it?
Care to explain one-Alex&Adam-left?
Did notread other comment but would prefer to go back to previous ranking. This new point system is complicated and after one day it already feel like you are playing for nothing.
I agree with the comments on the new points system. I won a match and my points dropped. I’ve now won 5 matches and lost 2 and have zero points. Plus I think I’ve been in three different divisions in the past day.
I feel like I’m not really climbing the ranks at all, winning or losing at this point seems to randomly affect my ranking.
We just won our first S2 game (2v2), received 10 points, and got *demoted* from Super-Titan to Master!?! How did that happen? Is there a better way to win without losing entire league rank?
I have had the same as what happened to bamamike, I have changed division and also lost points after winning and gone down to 0 multiple times
Seems like the only way to go up is to not finish games you are going to lose… And I don’t want to do that
What the heck is going on with the points?!?!…I won five games an lost ranking….then lost and gained and it’s all over the place….very confused…
This new version seems to crash way more than the last one. What is happening? I want to play but none of my turns are being turned in.
