RE: Need advice? - Post your replay!
Hi. I'm pretty new to this game but it's a lot of fun. Here's a replay of one I just lost, can you give me any pointers?

Actual comments Turn 4: Instead of moving your Heavy from your Wit Space, you could have moved the Soldier to destroy the Runner. Up until turn 24, you built exclusively Runners - this strategy will not get you far as you saw in this game. You couldn't stop a 3 HP Soldier from marching across the map to your base. Mix up your unit composition and don't rely solely on Runners. Other than that, I didn't see any blatant mistakes. I am in no way affiliated with or authorized by One Man Left Studios, LLC. RE: Need advice? - Post your replay!
what the hell?
Someone got advice for me? /edit: I realize that turn 14 wasn't all that good considering the Soldier they could produce and the Heavy moving up. I had hoped to be able to go the southern way then, though. Not a chance. Boosted units everywhere. Where does that guy get his wits from? =O jesusfuentesh Wrote: Harti is like the silent lion. That turn where you move the medic to heal the soldier, you essentially spend 3 wit (since you move the medic back a few turns later), where you could have instead spent 4 wit for an entirely new boosed soldier on the same spot. Also, your medic goes on a journey and eventually boosts your heavy. That is a costly set of moves. 2 whole wit to get to him. Why not just spend 3 wit and have a whole extra medic on the board which can also boost your lower units? The turn you attack the sniper, why did you attack with runners and not the solder 3 hexes away? That cost you probably 2 extra wit and the lower runner. Ok, I've written a couple more things about that turn that I have deleted, but I think you may have beaten him there, or gotten close if you had attacked the sniper with the soldier first, then plugged the sniper hole with a runner and attacked the base once with the wit you saved on the sniper. Next turn both your soldiers should have room to attack. |

Medic - fair point. Not quite sure what was going on in my head.

I, however, cannot understand how that wit space rushing technique distracts you so much that you cannot even build up an army. They were so hilariously solidified I didn't stand any chance (which is why I resigned). jesusfuentesh Wrote: Harti is like the silent lion. Your initial response was good, you have to get that soldier out, but when they switch to soldiers, I think you have to consider switching to a sniper. A boosted sniper with a runner on the wit space can lock that area down pretty well. 2 hexes north of the spawn can cover the entrance to the wit space. You're not going to be able to apply pressure, but at least you can focus your attention elsewhere. Otherwise, he is paying for the cost of transit every time he touches the wit space. Edit: You mention the possibility of trap lying in wait. I've noticed that people who apply massive pressure to the upper wit spaces rely on that pressure to keep you from the middle. I initially thought you were going to be cute with your sniper through the middle, but unfortunately it didn't work out. Things may be different in the MMR stratosphere, but I've never seen someone hide a unit behind the sniper before they have walled the front. |

He has a scrambler. Whee.
So my thought on this is that I should have actually sacrificed some units to take down the scrambler. He really wasn't defending it at all. I also made a mistake in moving the heavy to where it got scrambled. :/ Hindsight is 20-20. But yeah, I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you. I AM THE 99.9997%! |

I think he got lucky because all he had was a scrambler. I think you could've won if you were certain that all he had was a scrambler. And uhhh....yeeeaaah.....I'm a noob XD |

Due to the alignment of obstacles you'd have to leave your Sniper exposed to well-positioned Soldiers. I just tried. jesusfuentesh Wrote: Harti is like the silent lion. Hmmm, maybe my opponents are bad. Boosted soldiers seem almost too tanky. It's really challenging to respond to them on Long nine. |
