Perhaps a better way to think of it is this the path (green path) that the body of your entire army should be taking as a hole, so it's a little unclear when marking it as the path of a single soldier. Often times I will use more advanced tactics on long nine. Either sending a runner over to take the wit space on the red line, or sending one, then sending a boosted runner to reinforce. This forces the enemy to make a soldier to deal with your runner and you can hold the wit space. Additionally, I will occasionally just send unboosted soldiers along that path to hold the with space. After a few turns this begins to be advantageous. You get a 2 wit swing by holding their wit space. Meanwhile, I will usually be organizing an attack using the sniper in the middle, or using other units on the backside. Sometimes the opponents will become so distracted defending their wit space that they are unable to counter easily FYI I am in gifted, but long nine is one of my better maps. |

In my style, in Long Nine I may attack either middle or bottom, depends on which side my opponent is weaker and sometimes harass the upper wit space for distraction. In Sweetie Plains I usually attack through the corner of the map along the opposite side of spawn. It's hardest way to counter. |

RE: Paths of Attack - an intro to Outwitters math
I like the point you make about the worth of a unit being more than just the price you pay to build it. I think I've always subconsciously thought about that - but I never really put it into words like that. Nice article!

RE: Paths of Attack - an intro to Outwitters math
Really useful thread! The paths of attack really do work, though I've never tried the Sweetie Plains green path in league. I tried it in Pass and play and found that if you anticipate an attack on the wit space and spawn a heavy or two to stop the attack, it's not too hard to defend. But I won (and lost) anyway.
You should try updating for the veggie maps, though I have come to believe that attacking through the centre is best for TG and from your wit space is best for Reaper. Once a master of nothing, now a noob to pretty much everything. Hiatus resolved. I stalk these hallways again. GC Silent_Dynasty because I'm indecisive and whatever ;u; |
