All my openings for reaper are variants on that. It's always been effective. (Unless I blunder. For which there's no excuse as things are pretty mapped out. You can also keep the heavy higher up and use it to attack the witspace.)
The general idea is to harrass the wit space, kill the sniper, and move yours down the right.
