Garcia (S) vs Alvendor (V) - Long Nine
Standard veggie vs bombshell game on Long Nine. My plan is not directly to win, but to get Garcia to make a mistake I can use to take initiative and then win. Things I hope he does: * Puts his bombshell to far forward. * Not keeping a balance of units top and bottom. * Start fighting my units among my thorns. Garcia's task is basically to not do anything stupid. Turn 5: I like his play of moving back the sniper and not healing it: very defensive, only spending wits when necessary. Turn 10: I put my bramble so I reach both top and bottom of the map. I then start to put some pressure on bottom wit space, I hope he overcommits. I jumped around too much with the heavy and could have been smoother saving 1-2 wits, but don't think it would have mattered. When I see the he got his bombshell I can't do anything more there and move everything top, hoping he doesn't notice bottom is open. Turn 16-20 I use two "strains" of thorns to make them more robust. Every turn I consider if an all out attack can squeeze out a win, but find I'm a bit short every time. Also hoping he will start attacking my units top. When I see his bombshell I'm forced to attack but it is cleaned up easily. I think this is a good example of the dynamics between veggies and scallywags. Another possible strategy for me would be to not create a brambler, block the sight and mass regular units either top or bottom and hope to catch him off guard. Soldier spam FTW |
