Explanation for Bramble move?

Can someone explain how red is able to spread vines in the manner that happens in this game on turn 9. Is there some rule with Bramble that I'm not aware of?

He could do that because a vine can spawn another vine once per turn. He spawned a vine that spawned a vine that spawned a vine.

A better way to say it is that each vine can spawn another vine once per turn. You can spawn several in the same turn in this way, but killing any of the parents will remove all of that parent's children.

Think of the bramble as a virus. The virus spawns more viruses, which spawns even more viruses, so vines can multiply pretty fast. A smart idea for the bramble is to NOT make all your vines from 1 single vine.

When you watch the replay, you can see which vines spawn new ones. When they spawn a new vine they go dark, like any unit that has used its attacks for that turn do.

If you kill the first vine then all of the other vines that were created as a result of it would be killed too. This is an effective way to gain a wit advantage over bramble.
