How do you set up on your first turn in a game?
I was just curious as to the different ways people set up on their first turn. Do you move your sniper in Foundry? Do you spawn a medic first thing on Reaper or do you go for a runner? Would you use the medic on Sweetie Plains to buff the central spawn space (and the heavy) or the side spawn space? (Personally I would prefer to buff the central and the heavy, and I may or may not spawn another medic on the side spawn space)

I am still learning the game and the forum, so in no position to give experienced advice. But I found these two posts/threads helpful:

Reaper

Foundry (6th post)

Also, watching the replays from the super-Titan thread can illustrate a lot of good openings.

Good luck!

The first move is to:
1) Cover wit spaces
2) Set up for whatever mode of attack (depending on map)
3) Map vision to see what opponent does on their move so I can plan accordingly.

Yeah I agree,
1)cover wit spaces
2)set up but moving tank/soilder in a food position, don't over extend
3)get a runner to see what's up the your opponent
4)plan for the upcoming moves, like push in with a medic and tank or etc

Cool vlad Cool

Experiment with different setups and find the one with the highest success rate.
In your first post I think you got Foundry confused with Machination. Yeah, most of the time it's a better idea to let the sniper take the wit space. It was put so close to the wit space for a reason!

RE: How do you set up on your first turn in a game?
First turn moving the sniper on Foundry usually means you move him closer to the medic and have the medic stay put. That means on your next turn you can get him adjacent to the medic for a boost without having to spend any wits moving the medic and without the sniper ever being at risk of getting killed by a runner, and the sniper is moving closer to threatening your opponent's central wit space.

It's a super efficient use of wits, and ever since I saw someone use it against me I've had a hard time not doing it myself every time I have first turn on Foundry. It's low risk, high benefit, high efficiency.

Yes, I also keep the medic rooted and then move the sniper. Soldiers from both spawn spaces can reach your medic too so then you can build up some forces.
