Firstly welcome and congratulations to the 96 competitors about to take part in the 2014 World Cup - with just over 600 games about to be played this will be a great display of Outwitting skill and there are sure to be some great matches as a result.

An important announcement regarding the Plate Competition. After reviewing the format and taking into account changes in the player listing it has been decided to change the cut off for eligibity in the Plate to be everyone outside the top 32 (rather than 40). The main reason was so that it aligned better with the way the main competition works with the semi finals. I.e if you are outside the top 32 seeds and just miss making the semi-finals then you will likely get a chance to compete in the Plate competition semi final instead.

Player Checklist
With the competition only a few days away please ensure you check the following:

1.Please check your name on the registration list is spelt correctly (including spaces etc) it will make it easier for people to find you when they are starting games - send a PM to awpertunity if anything needs correcting.

2.Please re-read all the rules in the initial post - especially regarding race limits and time frames etc - some of these have changed slightly since the competition was announced so it would be best to double check now before the competition starts.

3.Ensure you have the uber pack and 2gen maps.

4. If this is your first tournament and are unsure how things work with starting games and how to post game results etc please then send me a PM and I'll help you get started.

Players on the standby list
There is still the chance to compete - if any of the listed players does not start their games in the required time then you may have the option to take their slot. We will send you a PM if that happens.

Lastly, but most importantly, please thank awpertunity for the work he has put in setup and administer this competition - with 600 games and 96 competitors it is not a small amount of work- A big shout out to him from me.

Hi All,

I know there are a number of people that are super keen and have started games already - indeed first blood in a finished game goes to awpertunity!

I do know however from contact with individual players that there are some that will not be able to start games in the first week or two due to travel or other commitments.

SO IF YOU START A GAME AND YOUR OPPONENT DECLINES OR TIMES OUT WITHOUT PLAYING THEN PLEASE WAIT A WEEK AND TRY AGAIN.

I know there may also be players that do not have enough game slots for 10 games right now (myself included!!) so there may also be cases where you will have to wait a few days and try again.

The Original Post in the main thread has been updated with respect to terminology so that the two threads use consistent terms and also making sure both posts say the same thing in respect of the way players are ranked within the groups.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR GROUP A
Unfortunately xanaq was registered but inadvertently left of the final list of players but should have been part of the list (an admin error on our part). After discussion we've agreed that he will take the final spot that was re-filled by Flarp55 when he was re-admitted to the competition.

It's not a great outcome after things have just started I know, but it is the fairest thing to do in the situation. So until we get the chance to re-do the Match details PDF please use xanaq in place of Flarp55. Anyone that has started a game will need to redo with xanaq.

For the elimination round
The maps are the ones not in parenthesis correct?
If so, why isn't sweetie plains in the final? It's the ultimate map

I wonder which maps the community thinks should be in the elimination round?

(ANOTHER) IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT FOR GROUP A

For those reading the other thread you will note that Yukfuj5 has withdrawn from the competition as (s)he does not have the 2gen maps.

After discussion with awpertunity we both agreed that Flarp55 will have the chance to re-enter the competition in his place.

Part of the consideration was the unfortunate circumstances that lead to Flarp55 missing out originally. Also because Flarp55 and Yukfuj5 are adjacent on the seed list there is no bias to the group.

In addition it was also decided that because Yukfuj5 did not meet the criteria for entry then all matches will be void and need to be replayed with Flarp55.

We understand that this is does cause more disruption for group A, but it seems the fairest outcome for all in the end.

I think my name is spellen wrongly: it should be - Japsie - with the spaces, not -Japsie-. Then it should be easier to start games... Thx for updating and sorry for the confusion!
