Tilt to Live 2 Early Bird Tournament [Winner: sky1988611]
TILT to LIVE² - Redonkulous Early Bird Tournament
Now that we have a trailer and since the last tournament was well received it is my great pleasure to announce the Tilt to Live 2 - Redonkulous Early Bird Tournament! Rules
Scoring Upon release there will be two game types available: Classic Mode and Code Red*. Scores in both game types will be converted into Tourney Points which will then be added together for the Early Bird ranking. The top scores in each game type will award 500 Tourney Points each. Every other score will earn less points based on the ratio between it and the respective top score. The exact formula looks like this: The reason for rounding up (denoted by the square brackets with the lower bar missing) is to prevent any rounding based shuffling when the top score changes. The chance for two or more participants to have the exact same number of Tourney Points in the Early Bird ranking seems very low and a tie-breaker rule is therefore not considered necessary. *Update (December 4th): Even though the latest update brought Old School mode to Classic Mode and Code Red, this tournament remains as it is. That is to say, only Classic Mode and Code Red (without Old School mode) will be consiedered. How to enter
*: Even if you were part of the last tournament, you need to send a new friend request. °: Any technical difficulties with Game Center are beyond my control. Apart from large-scale failures no alternative submission channel will be accepted. ^: Seriously, there is no step 3, stop looking in these footnotes. Prizes
Good luck! Leaderboards as of December 15th, 22:00 UTC I will provide updates at least every 2 days to these leaderboards. Due to this lag you should never feel comfortable with your current score and always give your best. A better score may surprise you in a coming update. Early Bird
Classic Mode
Code Red

RE: Tilt to Live 2 Early Bird Tournament
since it's 4 weeks long, why not use the weekly scoreboard? would allow for easier 'overtaking'?

I did that the last time because the total scores consisted of personal best from before the tournament - but since the release is the start this time, I can make my task of score keeping much easier by looking at the all time scores. Omg yeah I have just done 4 666 669 in code red! This game mode is harder but it's much more fun than the classic, cuz you are directly jumping into the action

RE: Tilt to Live 2 Early Bird Tournament
May I just say something? I feel like using index scores would be better in this case, since we only have two disciplines. First placed in a discipline would recieve 100 points, anyone beyond that would recieve a percentage of that as a fraction of their score in relationship to the first placed's):
Say, Yummy Noodles got 5,000,000 points in Code Red, and scores first place in this discipline. He will recieve 100 tourney points (TP). Mag!cGuy, with his score of 4,666,669 points, will recieve (4,666,669/5,000,000)*100 = 93 TP. If you're going to stick to the original format, it would still be nice to keep this as a tiebreaker, since, you know, it's still better than no tiebreaker. |

RE: Tilt to Live 2 Early Bird Tournament
I thought about it, but then remembered how bad I am at the first T2L. I'm afraid I would probably be at the bottom of the list, just above the quitters.

Also, the explanation is more complicated than the current system. I do however see the advantage concerning ties - the higher the number of points per discipline, the lower the chance for ties. Say 500 points per discipline and you'd have 1000 possible point-values in the overall ranking thus reducing the chance of having two or more contestants with the same score. One somewhat irritating possibility I see with this system is that a new highscore could lead to people with existing scores switching ranks in the overall score due to rounding errors. This might be circumstantial but it's a WTF-situation nonetheless. To be clear here - I do welcome a constructive discussion about the scoring system and I'm still open to changing it. However, once Tilt to Live 2 is released and this tournament is started, there will only be minor tweaks but no complete overhaul happening. Regarding the beta scores: they are on the Game Center sandbox and once the game is live these scores should remain on the sandbox and everyone should start with a clean slate. I would then ask any beta tester who wants to participate in this tournament to delete the beta prior to installing the live version, thereby resetting progress and wiping saved highscores which might be submitted to the live Game Center.
