Reputation

I'm a bit annoyed by reputation. It could be something based on thread ratings or activity in addition to player ratings. I mean, onealexleft has only 35 rep. I guess it's not something that's really that important, but it irks me that reputation is gained through players giving it to people. (Haha, honestly I could just be jealous, but even so...)

Reputation - noun - the estimation in which a person is held, especially by the community or the public generally

How else would one get reputation? Or are you suggesting that we shouldn't have it? I feel it is positive encouragement for players to contribute to the community. Though it shouldn't be necessary and ultimately is unimportant, it is nice regardless. Adam and Alex definitely should have more reputation though! But I guess reputation is based on forum posts so the fact that they made the game hasn't really factored in.

One thing that does annoy me: random people signing up, just to give someone a negative. I mean, seriously?! You really shouldn't be able to rep somebody if your account excists for less then a week, really.

That's like predicting that one of the candidates in the 2012 US election was going to win because he had 28 electoral college votes while the other only had 19 early on. Keep in mind they needed 270 to win so that seems like quite a leap. Alex still has a good chance! (I scaled Alex's reputation and Harti's reputation with the 2012 election numbers to get ~28 and ~19).

This happens here? Or on other forums? I know some places have the precautions of which you speak but I wouldn't have thought it necessary here.

lol, yeah alex still has a chance. didnt really think about predicting the chances. i just wanted to use the word POTUS in a post. haha (just finished watching vantage point)

and yeah, the the random people signing up to give a negative happens.. :/

dont really mind getting a negative if i deserve it and if its from someone whos opinion is actually worth something.
