RE: Rising Star Tournament - ROUND 1
Question: Team A. Sal702 and Breaumont are tied for 1st place. Do we need to challenge each other? I noticed we both passed to the next round already

Please don't flip a coin to decide full ties. That's gonna be godawful. |

RE: Rising Star Tournament - ROUND 1
How does the 2nd tie breaker work? From what I understand group F will have a 3way tie of 4-1 records each of us losing to one of the others. So then it would go to the coin flip? Ugh...
Edit: assuming they each win their game against slowmike who may or may not be active. |

From what I understand group F will have a 3way tie of 4-1 records each of us losing to one of the others. So then it would go to the coin flip? Ugh...The 2nd tiebreaker means you sum up the points of the opponents you won against. This means that wins against strong opponents are rewarded more while losses against weaker opponents are punished less. The reason why I didn't want to include more than 2 tiebreaker rules is, there aren't really any other good ones. Base Health and Turn Count are often not indicative of who controlled the game and has problems to incorporate resigned games or byes. Giving the win to the player who won more games as P2 (like in chess for more wins with black), but since not everyone played the same amount of P2 games (and I just discovered that challonge has a horrible flaw) I don't think that's ideal either. What I didn't account for is that Sonneborn-Berger is absolutely useless for 3way 4-1 ties if Head-to-Head doesn't work. I don't want to play an additional full playoff round like the World Cup, since I really really want this tournament to be shorter, so not all of my participants are in masters by the time it ends. So if you're really unhappy with the random draw, I'd propose a kind of Sudden Death playoff with the rules of the Micro strategic tournament, where you are not allowed to build ANY units. What do you all think? Rising Star Tournament for Fluffy, Clever and Gifted players - FINAL ROUND started! |

RE: Rising Star Tournament - ROUND 1
I'll leave it up to the others. I guess if it comes to a coin flip at least I have 66% chance to make it. The random gods do not like me though.
