How to get placed with a new 2v2 partner?

Hi! I placed with a 2v2 partner months ago, but I found I didn't like playing on a team with them. I recently found a partner I enjoy more, and I've played a couple of matches alongside them and still no placement. Can someone explain to me how qualifying matches work with 2v2 games, and how I can get a ranking with my new partner so we can start climbing (or descending! ) the leaderboards together?

All you do is select 2v2 in the options for League play, you will see an invite button and you click that then type in his name or if he is your GC friend just click on him!

That's what I did! Twice now! Hence, "played a couple of matches." Still no placement.

You do 5 placement matches with each partner you have.

Oh. I thought the placement system changed from 5 ptches to just one. Did it stay at 5 for 2v2?

No you do 5. But at the end of a season if you are already placed, you will only do 1 placement match for the next season.
