P0werCrazy and Gavin Wins have been laying in wait for many months now after crushing the competition and sitting pretty at the grand finals spot. HolySab and pharmafan meanwhile have been on an incredible winning streak, taking down top teams again and again, most recently the amazing
Akkete and
Juslas who take a well-deserved third place.
Thanks to all who are still keeping up with this tournament after such a long time! Good luck to both teams as they bring this tournament - the longest Outwitters tournament in history - to its close.

Regarding the recent change to mitigate first turn advantage:
The FTA rule for the best of 3 matches is designed to keep things fair, but also to give an advantage to the higher seeded team to the extent that an advantage must be given. I appreciate the position of consistency in not wanting to change the tournament rules, but the game itself has changed in a way which directly impacts the FTA rule. I see this as distinct from Veggienauts being added, and new 2v2 maps, for while these changes did impact the tournament, they did not impact existing tournament rules in the way that the recent FTA fix has done.
Therefore: I rule that the higher seeded team shall now have "choice" of either first turn OR map selection for game 3.

Who can participate?
This tournament is open to all pairs of two players, of any league. There are only three requirements:
1. You have a teammate (so, no random teams)
2. You and your teammate have completed your placement match(es) for the current season and have been placed in a league
3. You cannot enter the tournament multiple times on multiple teams
How to sign up
To sign up your team, please post in this thread expressing your interest in participating, along with the following information (from the current season):
1. Names of both players on the team (in-app names)
2. League
3. League points total
4. Division
5. Division rank
I will use this information to seed the tournament bracket, using the following order of priority: League, League points total, Division Rank.
Tournament format
The format of this tournament will be
double elimination. This means that there will be a "losers bracket". Lose once, and you can still climb your way back to win the whole tournament! Lose twice, and you're out for good.
The size of the tournament will be a
64 team bracket.
Matches will be
best of 1 for the initial rounds of the tournament. The higher seeded team will get first turn and choose the map. However, if the higher seed is not responsive, I reserve the right to transfer first turn and map selection to the lower seeded team.
In
round 3 of the winner's bracket, and
round 4 of the loser's bracket, matches will be
best of 3. For best of 3 matches, three matches should be played simultaneously:
1. Higher seed starts game and chooses map
2. Lower seed starts game and chooses map

3. Higher seed has CHOICE OF EITHER first turn OR map selection*
FYI: "Higher seed" means a lower number. For example, 2nd seed is "higher" than 8th seed.
There is
one exception to the FTA assignment: In the event that the same two teams meet for a second time (due to double elimination), and in the first meeting of these two teams, the lower seeded team won, then in the second meeting of these two teams, the lower seeded team is considered the "higher seed" and gets FTA (first turn for best of 1 matches; first turn in 2 out of 3 games for best of 3 matches).
* I will address cases where the higher seeded team cannot create a game on a given map because neither teammate has purchased the map on a case-by-case basis.
How to report match results
To report the result of a match, either team (but usually the winning team makes the most sense) can report the result of a match using the following format:
