Ok, so please correct me if I am wrong.

1. The finals of the winners bracket is best of three.
2. The finals of the losers bracket is best of three.
3. The winner of the above two games fight in best of three.

It all got a bit complicated when "best-of-three" was introduced; I thought the original idea was to make it double elimination.

^You are correct, but it still is double elimination. It is similar to the 2v2 tournament, which also has best of 3 matches. Just treat a match as a single game as far as the double elimination goes: if you lose a match then that counts as one of your two losses.

The third one is wrong the final match is that if the winner of the winners bracket beats the loser bracket winner once then he wins but the loser bracket winner has to beat the winners bracket winner twice to win

Thanks guys. So again, the Winner's Bracket Winner vs. Loser's Bracket Winner is NOT a best of three? In essence, WInner's Bracket Winner has a twice-to-beat advantage?

Also, for the best of three match, do I get to choose the map for game 2?
