If they are actually much higher in the rankings, losses won't matter *as much* in terms of affecting either players' rankings. It may eventually grind down your placing, but won't do something like kick you to the bottom of the fluffy league.

it actually wasnt as bad as i thought. i got promoted after losing a few games to necrocat :))
