Placement matches needs to be played one after another in order to get higher ranked opponents. Evidently your team member's ranking on singles or random neither with other arranged teams has no effect on newbie teams initial status. Newbies start at the bottom.

6th match was started before finishing 5th, since we had losing position. I was just following my guide "how to get highest starting league".

2014-03-15 ranking places "newbie" team to 119th with 5-1 ratio. I have played random with flogue-le, =J0$)-(= and ludo_06 as partner more often than that!
I have played 80 random 2v2 matches so far. With poweewee our 7th match is going on.
Please note that with Bobolynx: 5-0 placement put us also at 119th. 6-0 to 47th, 7-0 to 31st and 7-3 to 53rd.
