Well I don't do that and I just lost my first 2v2r game in probably 6 or 7 games. If you take time and especially play defense before offense, I find it more likely to win. Also suggest things to your partner I chat: they may not listen but that's the most you can do! The game is the way it is, Adam and Alex may change it, but for now just play it and have fun.
