If you play 2v2 regularly or read the forum, you ought to know that FTA is an issue that was balanced on 1v1 but not addressed on 2v2. Back when 1v1 balancing was still yet to come, Adam or Alex reveald some statistics about FTA among different leagues. Outwitters was surprisingly balanced - but the game was very new back then (and still is). Anyhow 1v1 FTA was addressed and players are much happier now.
I am absolutely sure: if we look 2v2 statistics, FTA is not clear. Not even on Machination, Blitz Beach or Mechanism - one might argue maps themself need to be adjusted. We all know that 1v1 maps have been adjusted in the past. But balancing maps is time consuming - and 2v2 maps actually work quite nicely (with good deal of variation). And what about forum knowledge base - none of the last month matches on Machination I've encountered had been played with burnocaster opening. And I am happy to do best textbook opening myself if playing with known partner, but playing 2/4th or with random mate is different story. Before 1v1 FTA fix some really good player wrote about "uphill battle as player 2." To be honest, that is the case in 2v2 still today. Especially on those 3 maps mentioned before, but on the other hand 2v2 players do make plenty of mistakes... to level things up - at least on statistics. I was thinking of petition to implement this FTA fix, with forum ids. Those who voted, who care about this fta issue, are most likely top Outwitters players... But this is obviously issue for very few players indeed. |
