I wonder if these are actually modified footprints within the app's sandbox (by performing dissection on a jailbroken device) which get sent to the server or if there's another glitch we weren't able to spot during beta...

Either way, it sucks to hear that and as I said it was just a matter of time. However, there is no way the server can check ANY action a player makes. It would be far too much to calculate.
