It is serious. On the existing maps P2 can protect his sniper without losing the medic. If I'm forgetting a map where this isn't possible, please let me know, but as far as I know none of the maps fail on this.

In general, if you can sacrifice a 1HP runner to kill your enemy's medic, it's a good trade, and it's even better to take out a sniper. So if the only way for P2 to protect his sniper in turn 2 is to spawn and sacrifice a medic, this implies a significant FTA for your map.
