Yeah, it is more wit efficient AND you have a quicker supply of units. For instance it may only take 1 move to get you unit to the battle and it may take your opponent 2 moves. Overall the battle will be in your favor.

This is a general rule but there are always exceptions. Sometimes you can exploit these exceptions and surprise an opponent by attacking an unlikely location.

May I ask which one? Because it seems like the only way to lose is by losing the battle near your spawns (which in effect are near your base )
