Thats exactly the same as what I was suggesting unless I'm misunderstanding something with the exception of the thorn taking it's place, which I would think would be more powerful?

I think maybe there was a misunderstanding - each thorn would have an option to spawn another thorn OR deal damage - for example on turn one of the bramble they only have the capability to deal 1 damage (1 chain).
