Maybe for a twist, medic could heal the base 1 hp a turn at a cost of 3-4 wits. That way it wouldn't be too powerful, and not let the base get more than 5 hp points. If it costs that many wits, then it would leave a hole in a defense where they wouldn't have built that soldier, if they so choosed.
