Posting this to show the bramble potential, also note the spawn pattern he used to make it hard for me to get whole branches in one kill

Hard to say for sure but it seemed like you could've found a way to finish him quicker if you hit the base instead of the sniper, on turn 12. Then again, with bramble, he may have just sealed everything off quickly.
