RE: Reducing Time Limit for Turns
Ok, that's good that at least a few people did create an accounts. But out of 5-6k daily logins, only 165 people have responded to the poll.

RE: Reducing Time Limit for Turns
I voted 3 days, but I starting to think 2d makes more sense. I think the "players will adapt" theory makes a lot of sense. If there are no other options, but you have to play within a short time frame, then people will get used to it, and games will move quicker. I know a lot of the people I've tried to turn on to the game got really annoyed of how long it took to get someone to play back (especially in friendlies apparently).

I think the players who have been playing for a while are the ones who will be most effected, because new players won't know the difference, they will learn it as a 2 day time limit.

My initial 3 day limit vote was predicated on essentially "but what if you are on vacation or traveling, sometimes 2 days is too short." And now, I can't help, but think 2 days because if someone cares enough about their W/L, and they know they'll only have two days to play and may not be able to do that, then they will need to plan ahead, or make it work. Those that normally take 4+ days to play now probably don't care much about their W/L, so they won't care that their games will time out in that scenario.

If people are worried about forgetting, set up notifications to tell you when you have a game. The change will not be a tough one to adapt to and I think the faster games will actually attract more people while also making the game more enjoyable.

One question, is it possible to make it so that if your random 2v2 partner times out you don't take a hit on your rank? This is a question I've had for a long time. Would it be difficult to program something like that?

RE: Reducing Time Limit for Turns
I would like to note that my phone won't send me notifications for this game at all. It is in my notification center and everything.

RE: Reducing Time Limit for Turns
Personally, I love the way it is now because there are times when even 4 days is difficult, such as when a big project is due at work. I've had to quit other games that I loved playing simply because the time that I could go between turns was too short and therefore quite cumbersome.

RE: Reducing Time Limit for Turns
Wait so will the game time out when it should change to 2 days ago or will the game time out when it should change to 3 days ago?

RE: Reducing Time Limit for Turns
Can confirm that games now time-out after it says "4 days ago", but before it says "5 days ago".

RE: Reducing Time Limit for Turns
Instead of a fixed time limit, how about an average time limit? Unused time could be carried over to the next turn. A cap could be placed on the carryover. This would allow going to a much short average limit, but still allow for the occasional weekend delay.

Another idea might be to adjust limits based on the timezone delta of the players.

RE: Reducing Time Limit for Turns
I feel that an average time limit wouldn't work, because once you get up to 50 move games, you could have game in the queue for several weeks.

Thats why he said a cap would be placed on the carryover, maybe the time cannot exceed 5 days or something

RE: Reducing Time Limit for Turns
Okay let's me honest here. Who takes 4 days to do a project/school work/work/etc.? I know, i know,it could take 4 days or more, but lets be real, you're not spending every second doing that thing. If you can't take 5 mins out of your time to get 1 turn in, every 2 days, I don't think you should start a game. Simple as that. I know there might be other troubles like getting your phone/iPod taken away, no wifi service(vacation), etc., but take responsibly, if your going to play, play the darn game! I voted for 3 days becuseI know there's going to be trouble up ahead, but if you time out, take a loss, after all, it's just a game. It's a great game, so don't ruin it for other players.
