RE: Outwitters WORLD CUP Signups (8 slots left)
There are two main reasons I am using only the base health as an indicator of how "close" a match is:

1) It is easily visible on the end game screen
2) It is not manipulatable. Some other tiebreaker suggestions in the past have been things like number of units left on the field, or number of wits left, or number of wits worth of units left on the field. The problem with these are, once a player knows he has won (and the opponent may not even know it yet), it is very easy to draw out the game and increase any of these numbers. You can't do this with your base health!

Hm, but perhaps you should state your 1v1 points only? I believe that was awpertunity's intention (correct me if I'm wrong of course).

My 1x1 would have been ~450 I think (finished some game since org post) - I wasn't clear on what one to put. My though was safer to overstate rather than under so it wasn't thought I was sandbagging it....

Just rank me last for being a dumbass if that's easier lol

Great - I was going to suggest that. Just like World Cup stadiums Wink

Base health isn't a very good indicator as it can be a long dragout fight with the loser having a heavy and soldier 1 turn away from winning.

The number of turns taken may be a better sign of a close match, so it could be something like this (with adjusted values for the size of the map):

< 15 turns - 4 pts
< 30 turns - 3 pts
< 45 turns - 2 pts
Over 45 turns - 1 pt

Between Number of Turns and Base health , one of them can be used as the tie breaker.

RE: Outwitters WORLD CUP Signups (6 slots left)
So... if I win the first game with 5 base health, then I spawn a lot of runners and aim to just do 1 damage to the opponent base, I automatically win the second game as soon as I damage the opponent base? This doesn't seem like a better tiebreak than a third game to me. :/

Necrocat, I don't think it's meant to decide who wins the game, but rather who advances in the group stages if two players have the same W/L record.

Consider this as one tiebreaker, because I think it's perfectly reasonable: who captured (or changed to blank) the most wit spaces in the first 16 turns of both games added together. This is something a lot of players aim to do anyway, and it's not possible to farm capturing bases without affecting your chances of winning in your first 8 turns.
Ah righty, ok thanks, sorry about that
