Community Team Match
Hi everyone. So, I had an idea. What if we formed two teams from people in this community and then pitted them together in an Outwitters match?

We could do East vs West, or perhaps USA vs Non-USA is a better way to break up the population. I am open to suggestions, and obviously this depends on interest.

How would this work, you ask? Well, there would be 1 Outwitters match going on between two groups of people, meaning that turns would be decided by a committee of players rather than one. Each team would be given access to a private forum on which to deliberate strategy. This is something I've been thinking about doing for some time, and the only thing holding me back was the difficulty of communicating specific turn proposals due to the confusing hexagon-based maps. However, I was inspired by this thread, and probably what we could do is just create an image of the map that we decide on and overlay coordinates on every hex to make it easy for both teams.

I have done this once before, with the hero academy community. It was epic, some of the best players in the world coming together in a match that lasted 9 months (!). Since HA is lame and doesn't provide match replays, we had to blog it. However, I don't expect that an Outwitters match would last nearly as long as that!

What we would need for this to happen:

  1. Two team captains. These would be people who actually host the game and take their team's turns, as well as provide screen shots to their team. Often, multiple screen shots would likely be required, as enemy units are discovered in the fog of war mid-turn and require re-calculation. Team captains should probably be Super-Titan.
  2. Cooperation from Adam, who would help set up the private forums and team membership from participating members. (We could use existing clan structure, but I was thinking that this should transcend clans).
  3. Most importantly, people to help strategize for each team! All skill levels welcome and encouraged to participate.

The purpose of this thread is to gauge interest in the community. So, if you would be interested to participate in something like this, I can take steps to make it a reality. I think it would be a fun! Smile

EDIT: Here is my analysis of the Winter World Cup signups (only demographic data we have available to us):

Percent of signups by continent:
Asia: 18 (7.8%)
Australia: 12 (5.2%)
Europe: 52 (22.4%)
North America: 144 (62.1%)
South America: 6 (2.6%)

RE: Community Team Match
omg. I was actually thinking about something like this about a week ago but it was clan vs clan.
One player from each clan but the whole clan decides on the moves. People would suggest moves an they pick the best move.
id like to join. Non-usa

RE: Community Team Match
I think I would start a new thread to gather sign-ups. This thread is just to determine the level of interest, and hash out the details of how we could do this. USA vs Non-USA isn't set in stone, for example...but admittedly I think that's probably the best way to split up the population.

It'll be GG when you're up against GG of GG.

RE: Community Team Match
Would it be USA in terms of location, or nationality preference

Or something that's more equally balanced... ( according to all the tourney sign up it seems more than 70% are us based)

RE: Community Team Match
Well, you'd have to look at the top mainly... And i'd say it's pretty balanced. We have poweewee, Riptor, Pokhs, awpertunity, Necrocat, garcia. We could even go a bit lower (Eijolend, Harti!, Mag!cGuy, Sharugames).
We could even have 4 teams (East, West, Europe and Asia).

RE: Community Team Match
Sounds like the hero academy thing. I didn't really care about that to be honest. With replays though it will be a million times better. I'm in!

Also I think that it should be east vs west side of worlds. USA vs world just sounds weird Confused

RE: Community Team Match
Sounds really fun, I'd definitely participate. Maybe we could have a best of 11 series, one on each map!
