A boardgame has been made. Does that count?

Given the amount of moving parts in Outwitters (both client and server infrastructure), it's not a trivial thing to do.
I could do it web-based. Besides your grant this would require your animation sprites, though, which are probably not there yet for the new teams, are they?

I know you're being sarcastic, but I couldn't help but laugh because this is how the world sees all software engineering. A bunch of project managers and business guys get in a room and think they've done all the hard work when they think of some vague overarching idea. They think software just has to "code it up real quick" and it'll be done...

Ugh.

Yeah, coming up with the game concepts is the easy part. Much harder is the actual coding that goes into making the ideas come to life.

Outwitters 2 confirmed.

Awesome. That sounds pretty concrete to me.

I used to want to be a programmer when I was young, then I grew up and decided to do something easier, so now I do Physics.

All jokes aside, from the little I know about programming, it's difficult, time-consuming, and very easy to mess up.

But there are so many more tasks involved in making a game than just coming up with concepts and coding. Personally, I think the hardest part is designing the game's rules.

That's probably true. When I said "hardest," I really meant "most time-consuming." While designing rules is definitely very hard, coding the game takes much more time.

RE: YOU Can Help Bring Outwitters Back!
Personally, I think that some changes could be made to the game to make it better without adding new teams. As I wondered in a different thread, they could add top 200 rankings to user profiles. Another idea I had, although I have no idea how hard it would be to implement, would be to show the top 200s games after they play them. For example, if LER4T beats poweewee it would say #1 LER4T def. #2 poweewee and you could click and see the replay. I think these ideas would really put a spotlight on top 200 players, because sometimes I think that players don't really realize what's going on in the upper echelon of players.
