Strange league placement/skill rating?

So I had a match with this guy in gifted. After the match I noticed he was 99th place in his division, so I checked his profile and he had 0 points with 56 wins. He had no 2v2 ranking(s), so he must be losing at least 2-3 matches per win. My questions are:

1. How is he still in gifted if he has lost so many matches? I thought you are supposed to be adjusted until you reach a level where you have a ~50% win/loss ratio (unless you are epic and never lose).

2. Why did I get 21 points for beating him? This implies that he has a pretty high skill rating (compared to mine), which seems unlikely from his stats.


Sorry of this is an odd thing to post (which it is), but I'm just curious as to how this could have happened, and if anyone can figure out how this could have happened.
