All this talk from the veggienauts beta has got me thinking. Mostly about the new wit for kill dynamic. I am hopeful this will not simply replace the game I have come quite fond of but simply to add to its diversity by adding game modes.

I am starting this thread to see what other game modes the community might think would be cool to add. Keeping OML's small size in mind here are my suggestions.

No-Bank Mode (Maybe 7 auto-wits?)
All-Soldier Mode

You spawn with two of each character and one special. No spawn spaces. Battle to the death.

A battle of Hastings style map like this would be so awesome, maybe even with no bases Smile

Rush mode:

One minute per turn!

The clock starts ticking when the board opens, and resets when you hit 'done'. Overshooting the timer will eat 2 HP from your base.

It takes a minute just to have the game appear in my* lobby. Haha
And another minute to think on what i should do.
I think 1 minute is too fast but rush mode would be nice

Could be some sort of quasi-chess... I like it.

I think the timer wouldn't start till you opened your turn?

Isn't 5 minutes for a full chess game too fast either?

Anyway, i was thinking of this:

In the main menu, you click on the game, it starts loading, however, after it is fully loaded, the screen turns black, like in a Pass 'n Play (instead of showing the replay of the last turn). The timer hasn't started yet. You tap the screen, after which the replay starts rolling, yet the timer does not start! When the replay finishes, the timer starts ticking, and you can take your turn. The timer stops only when you hit 'Done'. It doesn't stop if you quit the app.

How about a free-for-all game mode, with more than 2 players obviously? LOL. Like 3/4 players against each other. I guess it would need very large maps though. And tag-teaming may become a problem.
