I remember reading somewhere, promotions from one league to another are based on winning and losing streaks. I won about 20 games in a row, then, when I finally lost, was promoted.
I thought it was really weird to be promoted on a loss. Here is the game:

Anyway, if you have a really long streak going, should you lose every now and again to give the promotion system a chance to promote you?

I think it's probably just happenstance you were promoted on a loss. My (somewhat educated) guess? If you had won that game, you would have been promoted as well.
