I always have trouble scrambling brambles because if you scramble barriers that are closer to your side you get fewer and you kill fewer. However, if you take further from your side you get more but the bramble you steal is quite open.

You mean bramble itself or her thorn patches? Scrambling the thorn patch is useless most of the the time because at 1 hp, it could kill of your chain easily unless you block it it buff it. Thats why Feedback loses to Veggienauts
If you manage to scramble Bramble herself, you can strangle your opponent because their units suddenly go surrounded by the thorn patches that were once theirs. Just kill soldiers by poling them a bunch of times and don't let them get to the bramble. Scramble the heavies, kill off the medics and soldiers and take over their spawns so you win by domination
