I argue that it's actually 11 * 4 * 4 * 2 = 352. Eleven maps with four races for you to play as and four races for your opponent, and you either play 1st or 2nd. This is assuming we're not considering 2v2, which obviously has way more possibilities.

For me the real benefit is not improvement from blitz games, but that I know I will have turns to play regularly during my Outwitters time. It's frustrating to set aside some of your day to play the game only to spend half an hour waiting for someone to take there turn.

It's also possible to create blitz games even when no one responds to your forum posts. Simply start at the bottom of your turn list instead of the top and you will often end up with a rapidly moving game.
