I haven't read all the posts so maybe the following solution will solve a problem that has already been fixed.

The timer can be extended say 30 seconds every time a person makes a move within the allotted amount of time for the full players time limit. This could or could not be added on for the players next turn. Like a way to have good standing in the game time limited game. This good standing would not carry onto other games. Also if a person misses a turn, I do not think they should be booted, however I do think after no more than three turns missed they should be.

I think this is a great idea, sometimes I want to just sit down and have all my attention on one thing at a time. A way to unwind.
