Boosted Soldiers - Ser Purple Wolf - 01-23-2013 11:32 PM
I played a couple games recently where my opponent only purchased soldiers, usually on the spawn with the medic, and then just basically rushed my base with them. They usually only played one part of the board. This really frustrates me. I like to play for fun, and at least attempt to use my special. (Bramble) By the time I realize there are 4 boosted soldiers knocking in my door, it's too late.
Sniper? Can't kill. Gets destroyed one hit
Heavy? Can't catch or kill. Only temporary slowdown of the inevitable.
Runner? Finishes them off only to used as fuel their turn.
Soldier? Takes two hits to kill. Two hits to be killed. If your outnumbered on that side too bad so sad.
If you do this to me, the word "try-hard" comes to mind. Nobody has to respond to this, in on a rant because my only concievable defense would be to boost only soldiers myself. (Boring! I want to some crazy special usage!) Then the game slows down and nobody attacks each other.
Overall, I want to play outwitters with all the units, not who can boost more soldiers.

Ya, its a real shame when you lose just because your opponent doesn't use the same strategy as you.
Part of the game is reconnaissance and another is adaptabilty, and if you lose because of 4 boosted soldiers you're not doing enough of either.

i dont think theres a cheap way to win. the goal in the game is to outwit your opponent. how you do this is up to you.

You should switch to one of the other teams!
Scrambler: Reverse soldiers with converted soldiers.
Mobi: Teleport boosted heavies.
Bombshell: Boom! Blast away soldiers.
In my opinion, Bramble doesn't really have any anti rush capability, besides thorn spam, which takes time and wits.

I think that in general, the counter to a lot of boosted soldiers is to create a bunch of unboosted soldiers. It takes you two attacks to kill his 4-hp soldiers, just as it takes him two attacks to kill your 3-hp soldiers. You'll outnumber him, though, because your soldiers are cheaper to make.

Boosted solider spam is probably the best way to play if you don't know how to play, I bet you can get to masters with this strategy. It should work on every map.
Challenge: start a new GC account, spam boosted soldiers every match, see if you can get into masters.

also with the "i want to see some crazy special usage". i don't. i like specials being special, not default usage. It is great having specials, but the other units all act well.
heavies if your behind. heavies last when you don't have a medic. great
