I used to play Super Smash Brothers Melee competitively. I was never famous or anything, but I consider myself among the top .1% of players. I usually came in the middle of the pack at SSBM tournaments.
SO YEAH. I am REALLY excited for Super Smash Brothers Wii U.
Most casual players prefer Brawl to Melee. I was personally very disappointed with Brawl, it was not nearly as deep as Melee. SSB4 appears to be somewhere between Melee and Brawl in terms of speed and tech skill, but we'll see...hopefully closer to Melee than Brawl.

Melee WAS overall better for technical play. Brawl is more popular because more characters, features, items.

I remember playing on my N64 when I was 8 I always played as fox/captain falcon and would fight by myself against 3 level 9 computers, or 3 friends and almost always win. I wish I had a chance to play competitively when I was younger, I think I would've done well
