Outwitters 1.1 – Now with Less Crash

by

If you haven’t updated to Outwitters 1.1, you are missing out! Literally. The game won’t let you play again until you update. Here’s a breakdown of new things that aren’t old anymore.

The Ups and Downs of Your Game Limit

If you bought anything at all from the Outwitters store, your game limit is still good old 20! We’ve added an item to the store that increases it to 35 if you wanna. We really do appreciate anyone that’s dropped us a few dollars in your time with our game. Profits help us fund updates like new maps and teams. As long as Outwitters is paying the bills, we can keep working on it! (We’ll have news on our first team addition soon.)

If you’re a free user with no intention of ever buying anything, that’s totally cool by us! But we’ve reduced your game limit to 5, because there are A LOT of you and your turns are pretty expensive for us. If that makes you mad, we’re very sorry, but it only costs $3 for you to not be mad anymore.

New:

  • New item in the store. Increase your max game limit to 35!

Fixes:

  • fixed a crash on new league game
  • fixes for games not timing out after 4 days
  • fixes for large turn count games not loading
  • fixed crash on viewing profile and exiting quickly
  • fixed crash when joining a game due to a desynced server/client game state
  • no active games list bug fixed
  • fixed crashing when servers are down for maintenance

Map Change:

  • Starting soldier has been moved back on Foundry, helping to neuter one rush strategy

When I restored my iPad, the store “purchases” from the beta period didn’t stay so you will get money out of me whether you like it or not!

    …and cue the inevitable backlash in 3… 2… 1…

I love supporting a good product, but there’s always an issue when an update is pushed which takes away a feature and doesn’t actually add a feature. This would have been better held onto until you had a new map pack or team to release to quell the angry freeloaders that are prone to bitch about spending their allowance money to get back something they had for free just a day ago.

  3. JSaul says:

It is saying I’ve reached my 20 game limit but only have 7 games open. Plus, I bought the every team pack – doesn’t that come with any updates/builds?

  4. ElephantWalker says:

Can somebody explain to me what the game limit is? I take the forced update and now I can’t play anymore. I only have 8 games open at the moment. I purchased the game with the assumption that I could play as much as I want. There is no mention of a “game limit” on iTunes. I find it odd that I’ve never run into this before. Conviently there is now a game limit upgrade that I can purchase.

  5. Mani says:

I also only have 8 active games and it’s telling me I’ve reached my 20 game limit. What gives?

  6. Mani says:

Weird, I hit restore purchases even though it was showing I already bought the lifetime pack and now it’s working again. Love the game guys! πŸ™‚

  7. Alex Price says:

I was actually considering buying yalls every team pack and trying yalls other game. But I now see how you so business

  8. Alon says:

Nice, did you check the picture from one man left mail list, I think everyone understood what the next update is about.

  9. Alex says:

If you’re supposed to be getting 20 games and you are not (due to most likely purchasing something from our store prior to this update) simply go to the store, scroll down, and tap ‘restore purchases’.

  10. Adam says:

@JSaul: All of our content updates, like teams and maps, are included in the uber pack. This was just an optional bump in the game limit for people who wanted to play more than 20 games at a time. Your update will come. Next update, actually.

  11. Avenged110 says:

@Adam @Alex The question is though, will the next update with a new team be version 1.2 or 2.0? o.0

  12. Avenged110 says:

Btw, just bought the Über Pack πŸ˜€

  13. vivafringe says:

Seriously though, please fix people spam queuing for first player advantage in Super Titan. Your change gives an in game advantage to players who buy the 2.99 pack, since it lets them queue even more games simultaneously, getting even more 1p slots.

  14. Jeffro257 says:

Game won’t open for me now. I hate forced updates.

  15. QuantumApocalypse says:

@Avenged, Looking at the TTL versions, it seems that the next content update for Outwitters would be 1.2, though I think 2.0 would go nice πŸ˜›

  16. CombatEX says:

@vivafringe: How many top 50 SuperTitan players don’t have the uberpack…?

  17. Marianopaz says:

Why force upgrade?? there are very few players now!

  18. Alex says:

@Marianopaz because one of the maps (Foundry) has been updated, and in order for everyone to play it we need to keep everyone on the same version.

  19. Shannon says:

I have five open games and am a paid user amid I’m receiving notice that I’ve reached my 20 game limit as others are also reporting.

  20. John Bruner says:

There is a bunch of cry babies on here. It was a great update that fixed a lot of bugs. Quit crying! Who cares if no new maps or teams were added yet. I guess I’ll be the first to tell everyone at “one man left” good job and keep up the hard work! Great game now even better after the update.

  21. Alon says:

    That’s the spirit.

  22. darQlight says:

I have 6 active games, but I’m being told I’ve reached my 20 game limit when I try to play a new game. I have the uberpack. Please fix this soon or let us know if there is something we can do to fix it ourselves. Thanks.

  23. Anonymous says:

Not gonna buy anything now. Especial not for a “down”date.
Gonna see if you can pull better prices and/or a real update not just a price hike.

People bitching about paying any money at all for this game have lost their damn minds. It’s so ridiculously good for what little money it costs for anything, why would you whine? This isn’t a charity people. OML is graciously supporting free players even at 5 apiece. Big name game companies don’t give you jack for free and console/computer games are what, $60 a head now? And their junk half the time! Get your heads out of your asses and pony up a couple of bucks.
PS- buying the uberpack promised all future teams, not every store item. Game limit increase is not a fucking team. Durr.

  25. Anonymous says:

One Man Left is a two-person developing company, who while making an incredible game pretty much by themselves tried a new paradigm for in-app purchases, which is in all honesty very mild and forgiving. Alex and Adam have to eat just like you and I. Throw them a couple bucks just to support this awesome project. You know you’ve spent more for way worse and way less before.

  26. Adam says:

Thanks for your kind words, Anonymouses.

  27. Anonymous says:

I don’t even use 35 active games at a time, and I still put out the three (3) US Dollars just to give OML some more money. Just for the sake of it. Lesson 1, children: life isn’t free, and the fact that you get a whole team and five active games for free at all is generous, as far as society’s standards go.
And lesson 2, learn to give your money to good people with good products. Supporting unique small-time jobs, especially those that knock it out of the park, over huge conglomerates who don’t honestly care about anyone but their investors is always a better choice. Money talks.

I agree absolutely this is a great game and very resonably priced. I bought the Uber pack right after I tried it for the purpose of supporting such a great effort and further development. That said, the update is disappointing. I still have all the same arrors where I can’t see my games, the gnomes stole my games, etc. I get tired of having to close the game and go to the take bar and kill it in order to play. I think it is worse now than it was before. Please guys, you have some money now and a lot of players to see how things work, lets fix it so it plays right.

  29. Gamelover66 says:

I love supporting things that are good, but I feel ripped off. I never reached a game limit before. I bought the uber pack and was really enjoying playing this game with friends. Suddenly, I update and can no longer have a game with all my friends. We like to play 2v2 games and I have one each just 2 games. Then we play each other, 2 more games. I go to start my 2-3 league games I like to play and bam! I am blocked? What the heck! It’s a 20 game limit not 5!!! And come on. I paid in the very beginning. To support no to be denied! Can’t we come to a better solution like just capping league games not friendly games? And keep 2v2 cap separate from 1v1? Please don’t ruin this awesome game because of your greed!

  30. Anonymous says:

It sounds like some bug with you people who bought before but still have only a 5 game limit. Try restoring your purchases ( in the app ) and restarting the app or your device.

Also, do NOT label this as greed. This is what these two gentlemen do for a job. This is what they do for a paycheck, to pay bills and eat and have a roof over their heads. Much like you would appreciate being paid to flip burgers at McDonalds or ring people up at Walmart, they appreciate getting money for their WORK.

  31. P Brewer says:

I was having the five game limit problem even though I had bought the uber pack, too, but as Alex said in post 9, a simple “restore purchases” solved it.

Great job, Adam and Alex! Thanks for making this for us and sorry you had to come down on the free players. I figure that was a hard decision to make.

  32. Anonymous says:

Less crash? Are you sure? The game is a cute idea but it hangs and crashes more than any game i’ve played all year. Roll on version 2.1

  33. Anonymous says:

Man, I wish people from outside the U.S. could purchase the full version. I’m so eager to try out the other races

  34. Gamelover66 says:

Thank you Anonymous. I restored purchase and restarted the game. No more 5 game limit. For the record I said greed based on the assumption that they had taken away something that I had already paid to support. That is greedy. I am glad that this is not the case here. I love this game! Keep up the good ideas.

  35. Avenged110 says:

It’s very interesting reading this comment thread…

  36. Marianopaz says:

Hi Alex and Adam. Your gane is great. but the forced upgrade is a bad strategy. great ideas must be accompanied by commercial logic. I buy games when I’m convinced I can trust. John Bruner “children kicker” let people talk, these developers don’t need defense. his game is one of the best in the world.

  37. Anonymous says:

The game is continuously failing to refresh. Why?

  38. Anonymous says:

Omg it’s simple .. If you guys are having game limit problems and already purchased something go to the page where you can purchase shit and click refresh purchases… Bam problem solved … Awesome game btw!

  39. Sunny says:

I really like this game , but I hope this game can be played online ( no need to wait for turns ) , hope will add online game …

    I support this game!

  40. Alon says:

I can’t wait for the moment when I will check OML web and then I will see the title “meet the (name of the race)” and their picture.

  41. Samvise says:

Si there an undo button? Or it’ll ne in a future update? Thank you.

  42. Samvise says:

Sorry for the errors, it’s my iPad fault.
    Si = is
    Ne = be

  43. Samvise says:

Ok. Now that I have some matches experience, I understand why there isn’t an undo button.
Am I the only one that doesn’t receive notification?
